It all started in 1573, when Sir Antoine d'Erlach and his brother Borckhardt decided to erect a house called Maison Blanche (“white house”), away from the small village of Yvorne. In 1584, many of the people had to leave to flee poverty after a terrible rockfall. In 1609, Maison Blanche was restored, the walls were consolidated and a new roof was built. In the 1750s, Frédéric Würstenberger, then governor of the neighbouring town Aigle, acquired the house. His family kept the house until the end of the 18th century. 100 years later, Maison Blanche was renamed Château Maison Blanche (“white house castle”) after the addition of a keep and a pinnacle. In the 1930s, the Schenk and Rosset families, winegrowers from Rolle, bought the Château and consecrated it to viticulture. An unfortunate fire destroyed the roof and the frame in the 1930s, but the Château was immediately restored to be the region’s pride again.
